Winnipeg jets or St. Louis blues? Who should the stars want to face in the second round?

Dallas stars have eliminated the colorado avalanche from the Stanley Cup qualifiers with a 4-2 Win in match 7 Saturday evening at the American Airlines Center, claiming the first round series 4-3.
The stars will continue to continue the Stanley Cup in the second round against the Winnipeg Jets or St. Louis Blues.
The two teams in the central division are tied 3-3, with match 7 for Sunday evening in Winnipeg.
While Dallas awaits his next opponent, here are some reasons why the stars should or should not want to face Winnipeg or St. Louis in the second round:
Why stars should Want to face Saint-Louis
The obvious choice between the two possible opponents for the stars would be Saint-Louis.
The Blues were the last team in the photo of the western conference playoffs as a second joker seed. While they took place at the end of the season, they spent a good part of the year outside a place of playoffs.
The stars had no problem with the blues in the regular season, beating them during the three meetings.
In addition, if the stars take the blues in the first round, they would have an advantage at home. The stars have not been without home advantage since 2023. The difference between three possible trips to Canada and two in Saint-Louis is important.
Why stars should not Want to face Saint-Louis
The blues were perhaps not dangerous all year round, but they were the hottest team at the right time.
St. Louis won a sequence of 12 consecutive victories in March and April, establishing a franchise record and obtaining a place in the playoffs for the first time since 2022.
While the blues were the hottest, the stars had become cold, losing the last seven games of the regular season.
The Blues Robert Thomas center was also one of the best scorers in the League at the bottom of the final stretch, tied in the second row of the points since March 1 with 33 (five goals and 28 assists). He kept this in the playoffs with two goals and six assists in the first six games.
In addition, St. Louis displays an average of four goals per game in the playoffs against the best goalkeeper in the league.
Why stars should Want to face Winnipeg
It is rare to want to face the best team of the league in the playoffs, but the jets can have more than the curse of the trophy of presidents who work against them.
Winnipeg has the reputation of collapsing in the playoffs, as is his goalkeeper Superstar Connor Hellebuyck. The jets have reached the playoffs in the last eight of eight seasons, but have spent the first round only twice. In the history of the franchise, he only won three playoff series in total and never a Stanley Cup.
Many have seen it as Winnipeg's best chance to do so, but in a tight series with the lowest team of the conference, the jets are doubled again. He also occurs while Hellebuyck had trouble, especially on the road, with a percentage of stops of .815 and an average of 4.42 goals through six qualifying games.
The stars are a experienced group which takes place consecutive in the third round, and their experience in playoffs can be even more precious against a team which often seems fragile during this period of the year.
Why stars should not Want to face Winnipeg
In the end, Winnipeg is not an excellent match for the stars.
Despite their history of the playoffs, it may be the best jets team to date. Hellebuyck was by far the best goalkeeper in the League this year and should be the consecutive winner of Vezina. The stars fought against Mackenzie Blackwood from Colorado, and Hellebuyck would be a much more important challenge. Although its road numbers were not great in the playoff series, Winnipeg and Hellebuyck were solid at home.
Winnipeg also experienced the first power game in the league in the regular season (28.9%), although it is a little dried up in the playoffs. He finished among the first five in the NHL in the goals per game (3.35) and the goals per game (2.32).
During four regular season meetings, the jets went 3-1-0 against the stars, exceeding them 12-5.
After a difficult series in the first round against Colorado, the stars road would not be easier against jets.
