She continued: “I stopped acting for four years. I just needed to know who I was else. For me, the way I could discover was just to do something else and really exercise my brain and let go of all the glamor and the superficiality of Hollywood. It was really empowering for me.”
After university, McKellar returned to his actor roots in programs like “Love Boat: The Next Wave”, “even Stevens” and the old co-star of “The Wonder Years” Fred Savage, the program “Working” by Fred Savage.

“I was making all these independent films that were not very good,” she admitted. “Then I started getting a little traction. I did 'The West Wing' for a season.”

With “The West Wing”, McKellar has also made episodes of “NCIS”, “NYPD Blue”, “How I Met Your Mother” and “The Big Bang Theory” before she started to find her stride as a Christmas film princess.

“It's a wonderful experience for me. It's incredible, because I was able to write the script with someone else, but it is the first time that my name is on the script for one of these films, and it is really rewarding,” she said. “In addition, I arrive in Waltz in it! I love the dance hall dance, as I think everyone knows who follows me on social networks.”
McKellar has been playing in Christmas films since 2012, when she played the main role in “Love at the Christmas Table”, and has played in many since then, including “Crown for Christmas”, “My Christmas Dream”, “Coming Home for Christmas” and “Christmas at Dollywood”.
In his opinion, the popularity of Christmas films continues to increase because “people need comfort” and a way to “escape from this crazy world”, which vacation movies provide.
“More than an escape, it recalls what human nature can be,” she told Fox News Digital. “We need it. We need this reminder. We need, yes, the feeling of comfort, but also ideas about how to go ahead in a healthy and serious way.”

In addition to his work, McKellar is passionate about his faith. She said that she finally had a perspective on her life three years ago when she “entered” in her faith.
“It just struck me like everything at once,” she told Closer. “I had a lot of prejudices against Christianity during most of my life because of the search for wars – the Spanish Inquisition.”
She said that she considered Christianity before a kind of “evil force that controlled people”, adding that it is “really interesting and strange for me to speak suddenly about Jesus”.
McKellar said that she had realized that faith did not concern religion, but that “having a relationship with God”, what she said for her, “she said and not thinking that I must be in charge of all the time”.
