Colorado Rockies fell to 8-42 Thursday after a 2-0 defeat against Philadelphia Phillies, cementing the worst start of 50 games for a season in the modern era of the major baseball league.
Not from the colonels of Louisville from 1895, which started 7-43, has a team that opened such a bad season. The Rockies are now up to 136 games, which would exceed the record of all time of 134 defeats established by the Cleveland Spiders of 1899. The White Sox of Chicago 2024 set the brand of modern times last season with 121 defeats.
Thursday's defeat crowned a four -game scan at Coors Field and gave phillies their very first seasonal scanning of at least seven games against Colorado. Philadelphia has ahead of Rockies 27-12 during the series and has now won seven consecutive games and 11 of its last 12 on the road.
In a rare launcher duel at altitude, Ranger Suárez and Germán Márquez exchanged zeros deeply in the game. Suárez (3-0) dispersed six strokes out of six and two thirds of the sleeves, walking three and withdrawing six. He released after having authorized a double with two withdrawals to Jordan Beck and a walk at Ezequiel Tovar in the seventh, but the lift Orion Kerkering ended the threat on a single land.

Márquez (1-7) granted two points – only one deserved – on four strokes of seven rounds, withdrawing five and walking two. The two points came to RBI Doubles: Bryce Harper led to Bryson Stott in fourth round after an error of Tovar, and Max Kepler tackled Kyle Schwarber in the seventh.
The rocks were likely to score but went 0 for 6 with runners in a score position. Brenton Doyle tripled with a second round withdrawal, but the Colorado blocked it after two fast outings. The rocks also left the runners first and third in the seventh.
It was the eighth whitening of the Colorado of the season and the fifth consecutive defeat in total. They have 5-20 at home and made 45 errors – most of them in MLB at 50 games from the 2019 Seattle Mariners.
Phillies have improved at 32-18, the best record for 50 matches in the national league, and have now won four series of consecutive roads. They will continue their road trip on Friday with a three game set against Oakland athletics at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, California.
The Rockies, who have not announced to start on Friday’s opening against New York Yankees on a visit, will try to avoid their historic toboggan further.
