Austin – The Maddie Francis de Silverton was not the only athlete in Texas Panhandle who returned home with gold at the state athletics meeting 1A Uil on Saturday in front of an energetic crowd at the Mike A. Myers stadium.
Julian Barton de Booker ended his stellar career in high school starting with more equipment to add to the Trophy affair.
Barton came out of brand in the 400 meters of dashboard taking the lead on the curve to withdraw for a while of 49.01 to win the gold medal. Barton had not finished. Less than an hour later, Barton again showed his speed to obtain another impressive time of 22.21 for a bronze medal.
“It was great to get golden and end up with two medals,” said Barton, who was in competition for the third time during the state competition. “I felt really good there and as a senior, I wanted to get out of my best.
Barton ended his career in high school as a quadruple medalist between Follett and Booker.
After winning Sprint's three events during the I-1-A-1-A-region meeting, Trinity Schlueter in Valley was able to leave Mike A. Myers with one more medal to add to his collection. Schlueter, a multi-sport star that will play its academic basketball in Colorado Mesa, won the silver medal in the 400-meter race with a 1: 00.34. Schlueter has just missed the medal stand in fourth place in 200 meters (26.30) and finished fifth in the 100 meters (12.69).

Hailo Moon of McLean and Happy's Hayes Bressler were two other Amarillo-Athletes at the medal on Saturday. Moon ranked second in the shooting event by launching a 38-10 for a silver medal. Bressler was able to clean 14-9 for a bronze medal in the pole jump.
