Nestled on the edge of Lake Mille Lakes, Linda Dahlen manages a small large -scale business from her home in Isle, Minnesota.
His company, Wild Tech Corporation, manufacturing chimneys – small markers of highly reflective trails designed for hunters, geocachers and outdoor lovers.
Dahlen first had the idea 20 years ago after getting lost in the woods while chasing with his son. It has patented 3D reflective markers, which present themselves in both pyramid and cubes forms, which allows them to be seen from all angles.
Now, firefighters are sold in 32 states and even reach customers in Germany, England, Australia and Greenland.
But recent prices on Chinese imports have put its small business in a close situation. Dahlen explains that the cost of the contribution of its signature markers has skyrocketed.
“In January, while we were going to ship, all of a sudden, the prices occurred. I could not allow myself to have them shipped here-I would not be profitable,” she said.
The sudden peak of costs is wreaking havoc on her business, forcing her to count on existing actions while she determines.
“I saved all my life so that I can take care of a stop time like this, but what happens if it was my main thing?” Da dit Dahlen.
The cost of each order has increased from around $ 1,500 to almost $ 7,000, a shock for a small operation like his.
“For me to place an order that costs me about $ 1,500 to, with prices and other costs and shipping, now it's $ 7,000-it's like, I was shocked,” she said.
Despite the challenges, Dahlen put pressure for changes in the tariff system, including better exemptions for small businesses.
“They should have a verification process. They should have an exemption process. It is not punitive. I mean, for the moment, it's almost punitive,” she said.
Dahlen says that she contacted local representatives, hoping for support, but still awaits a significant response.
For the moment, she remains determined to keep her business brilliant, a bug at a time.
