Bucktown Market brings a new business opportunity to Dunmore – Scran Times -Tomes

Dunmore – Bucktown Market – A new market selling everything, swords with cleaning products, and trains for Harley -Davidson parts – has a new opportunity for local sellers.
“Everything is different,” said co -owner Joseph Fernandes. “After the closure of Sugerman (Marketplace), it left hundreds of sellers without nowhere-many who spent five to 10 years there. Our first calls were to the people we know were up there.”
The new market at 1237 Prescott Ave. In the district, gave some sellers a reason to start again to sell their products, added Fernandes.
“This has changed the prospects of many people,” he said. “The people who felt defeated are invigorated. And some people came out of retirement because it's just in their backyard. ”
This building, built in 1919, which was used at the origin of Moulin à Silk now gives craftsmen a chance to sell craft professions.
The mayor of Dunmore, Max Conway, congratulated the owners to have taken the initiative to bring the new company into the district.
“It gives people who do not have the opportunity to make a real showcase to take out their products in front of people, which, I think, is a great advantage,” he said. “And from what I have been told, they will try to enlarge it and better and I understand that there will be food on weekends. It seems to be a good way to spend a Saturday or Sunday morning and an afternoon, looking at the antiquities and the craftsmen sell.”
While revitalization around Dunmore Corners receives a lot of attention, Conway also feels good that progress occurs in other areas of the city.
“We have the Schiel market which took over for Riccardo in this section of Dunmore, which was a huge success, and now we have this (market), and we also have the Schautz stadium,” he said. “Seeing (development) in a way in other districts is so positive for the borough and the people who live here.”
Bucktown Market opened its doors last weekend and Fernandes and around 30 sellers were overwhelmed by support.
“We had a more important participation than what we expected and all our sellers were very satisfied,” he said. “It's been nine months in preparation – a lot of late nights and planning and expenses, but this weekend (past) was worth it.”
The monthly cost of rent for sellers spreads at around $ 30 a day, Fernandes said. “We are trying to keep it as economical as possible,” he said.
In addition to organizing a catering truck on weekends, Fernandes noted that the plans are in preparation to organize events like a mobile zoo with mini-animals, including goats, ponies and donkeys.
He also thinks that some suppliers appreciate the social aspect of the market as much as the production of sales.
“Everyone gets along really well,” said Fernandes. “They are all speakers and they love to be here. It's like a small community. We really want to interest people in their personal stories because everyone here has a very good story, and I think it will appeal to many people. ”
