The news and the grades of the regular press season end while some sports have started the playoffs

The graduation of school grades in the region is two weeks in the first week of June and for these senior athletes, it is the last chance to compete for a championship of division of the CIF-Southern section or a team title in certain sports. Here is an overview of what happened the previous week and what's going on in the file of the coming week.

BASEBALL

Artesia High put an end to the regular season with a 3-1 victory against Santiago High last Tuesday and entered the playoffs with a global record of 17-8-1. The pioneers finished third in Ligue 605 with a brand of 5-4-1. They look at the champion of the Oxford Academy League and second place Cerritos High, which went 14-13, 7-3 after being swept by the Patriots the last week of the season. This is the first time since 2018, donations have not had a piece of the Crown of League 605.

Gahr High has been in eliminatory mode since the first game of the season and it included last week when the Gladiators fell to Orange Lutheran High 4-3 last Tuesday and Huntington Beach High 13-6 last Wednesday. Gahr, the second place team of the Gateway League, entered the playoffs at 16-12, 9-3 in the league.

The champion of the League of the Passerelle La Mirada High finished the regular season with a victory from behind 7-5 against Arcadia High Tuesday and a 4-1 victory Tesoro high the next night. The Matadores (21-6, 10-2) lost the two championship games against Gahr.

Norwalk High has rebounded with a disastrous 2024 season finishing 15-8 this season and won 11 of the 15 games from the MID-Cities League, well enough for third place.

At one point, Valley Christian High was 4-7 before bouncing in the Olympic League game to finish in second place, a match behind Maranatha High. The defenders (15-10, 6-2), bleached Maranatha 2-0 last Friday, then preceded Mgrymommery High 5-4 last Tuesday as they enter the winners of the eliminatory series of seven of the last eight games and 11 out of 14.

The playoff supports will be published Monday at 10:00 am

Softball

Cerritos knows nothing to finish elsewhere than the first place in Ligue 605, because all that the donations have done is the title of the league after the title of the League. Six complete seasons since the birth of the league and six consecutive first -class projections is what the program did. Cerritos bleached the Oxford Academy last Friday and Artesia last Tuesday by scores of 10-0 identical to be undefeated in 10 league games for the fourth time since 2021.

Gahr Blanchi Downey High 4-0 last Tuesday to finish the regular season 13-12-2, 6-2 in the Gateway League. The gladiators have not yet moved two games north of .500 and their longest victories sequence is three games, accomplished twice.

The Gateway League champions are again the Mirada, which increased to 23-4, 8-0 after an 11-3 victory in Mayfair High. The matadores lost consecutive matches after winning four consecutive games to start the season and a few games later, won a sequence of 15 consecutive victories and half of their defeats came to Orange Lutheran.

Norwalk had a season from top to bottom and at some point, had 2-8-1. But two days later, the start of the action of the MID-Cities League and just like that, the throws start the playoffs with a record of 12-13-1, 8-2 in the league and second. Norwalk did not exceed 0,500 all season.

A little surprise at the end of the season propelled Valley Christian to an Olympic League title. Last Wednesday, defenders were second in the league with a 4-1 file, dragging Whittier Christian High, who was 6-0. VC then crushed Whittier Christian 14-1 last Thursday and beat the village Christian High 13-2 and Marantha High 16-0 Monday and last Tuesday, respectively, while the heritage Christian High surprised Whittier Christian earlier in the week. Last Wednesday, VC would fall to El Segundo High 9-2 to conclude the regular season at 15-6-1, 7-1.

The qualifiers will be released on Monday at noon on Monday.

Boys Volleyball

A pair of teams from the region qualified for the second round of the playoffs, but neither could win a victory. Norwalk fell to El Toro High in four sets of division 6 action when he was also in a division 7 match, Whitney High also lost against Jurupa Valley High in four sets.

Boys tennis

The first round matches started last Wednesday and Whitney exceeded El Dorado High 11-7 in the action of division 2.. The Wildcats welcome Great Oak High Friday while Cerritos crossed the Yucaipa High 16-2 in division 5 action and will face Trabuco Highs High on Friday. The Mustangs criticized VC 16-2.

In the action of division 6, the Mirada equaled Arroyo High 9-9, but prevailed in the matches won, 85-75 and will host the Heritage High on Friday while in the action of division 7, Gahr eliminated Palmdale High 13-5 on the road to win a home match against Elsinore High Friday.

Way and field

Many athletes will be everywhere in southern California in CIF-SS preliminaries all day on Saturday. Cerritos and Norwalk will participate in Division 2 in Ontario High, Artesia, Gahr and Mirada will be in Yorba Linda High in Division 3 competition while Carpinteria High is home to schools in division 4, including John Glenn High, VC and Whitney.

Swimming and diving

The second year student of Whitney, Trisha Lapidario, had a score of 321.80 in the diving event of the 2 1 meter division. She was one of the 14 divers who participated in the event last Wednesday at the Marguerite aquatic complex and collected six points which will be used for her team score once the swimming events are completed. The preliminaries of Division 2 and 3 took place last Wednesday with the finals on Friday while the finals of Division 4 took place on May 8. The preliminaries and the finals are at MT San Antonio College.

In the prelime of division 4 last Tuesday, Carlos Valderrama, senior of Gahr, knew the first time in the 200 meter IM (1: 56.10) and in the 100 Verf (49.60).
