The Illinois adds the guard in the Blake Fagbemi state | Sporty

Champaign – Illinois coach Brad Underwood hinted at the use of his list squares available for the 2025-26 to add development players who wanted to be illini when he appeared from Saturday Sporttalk.

This materialized Wednesday evening with a commitment from the senior of the Benet Academy Blake Fagbemi. The 6 -feet 1 goalkeeper ended his career in high school on a high note, leading the Redwings to a state of class 4A state in March at the State Farm Center.

Now Fagbemi will return to Champaign for the start of his university basketball trip.

Fagbemi collected an average of 12.7 points, 6.6 assists and 5.5 rebounds for State champion Benet Academy (33-5) and won the honors of the second News-Gazette team. He collected 14 points, six assists and four rebounds in the Redwings 55-54 victory against the canton of Warren in the match for the class 4A.

Fagbemi initially engaged in the state of Truman in division II last September. He reopened his recruitment in early April after a change of coach for the Bulldogs.

The addition of Fagbemi puts the list of Illinois at 14 for the 2025-26 season. He is one of the three, for sure, the first -year -old students inbound with Brandon Lee and Keaton Wagler. The rest of the alignment of Illini includes the return players Kylan Boswell, Tomislav Ivisic, Ty Rodgers, Ben Humrichous, Jake Davis and AJ Redd, the addres of transfer Zvonimir Ivisic and Andrej Stojakovic and the European recruits David Mirkovic and Mihailo.
