The head of Siriusxm is a new CEO of fortune 500 – as for years after having obtained the post

– Everything about audio. On fortune 500 of this year, nine new companies were led by women. As discussed in yesterday's bulletin, most of these companies joined the ranks of fortune companies 500 led by women after promoting women from the interior to the first job – with an exception (in a way).
Siriusxm is part of fortune 500 for the first time after having transformed from Liberty Media in September 2024. Like her CEO colleagues, she was promoted to work in 2021 after two decades in the company (from her moment when Sirius).
I plunged into the state of the company of $ 8.7 billion today in a functionality published in the last issue of Fortune. The company is discreetly more interesting than it seems at first glance – it implies everything, from radio and talent management, to satellite launches in space, to negotiations with car manufacturers and even a small company offering fishing boaters and meteorological information. The company was revolutionary when it made its debut in the early 2000s, promising an uninterrupted radio service without regulation of the FCC. But it was quickly exceeded by the streaming era; Satellite technology offers no data on listeners, which makes it almost impossible to follow the personalized algorithmic recommendations.
Under Witz, Siriusxm increased its podcasting activities, advertising now representing 20% of its income to 80% of subscriptions; He manages advertising for two thirds of all podcasts in American stars like Alex Cooper and Crime drugAshley's flowers pulled the headlines.
But it is against difficult long -term trends, losses of quarterly sub -abonnees, to an aging user base, even to the rise of autonomous cars – where passengers could one day watch the video, not only listen to the audio.
Witz has refocused Siriusxm on the car, where it is the strongest – and has eyes on the living room like a place where Siriusxm could grow. Find out more about the new Fortune 500 company, its CEO and the challenges to come in my feature film here.
