Three reasons that we love sport today

➜ 1. Congratulations to Maddax Stine of the boys' athletics team from Salt Fork and Madison Jones of the Westville Softball team. The couple are our last recipients for the athletes of the week of the News-Gazette high school, powered by the entrepreneurs of Copper Creek. Learn more about the duo in Tuesday's newspaper.

➜ 2. Congratulations to Sawyer Woodard. Thursday, the senior of Tuscola signed a national letter of intent to compete with the athletics team of the Eastern Illinois University next season. Woodard ranked fourth to the disc during the IHSA class 1A state meeting last year.

➜ 3. Congratulations to Anna McClure. The former star of St. Thomas More Volleyball, who is now playing Miami (Ohio), will throw the first throw before the White Sox-Marins match on Sunday at Chicago.
