A mechanical engineering student won the 17th annual business pitch competition at Florida Atlantic University For its artificial intelligence system on fire codes.
Daniel Guido, '26', won $ 2,500 on the student track for its Ficodes AI invention, an AI system that eliminates manual fire codes for buildings.
Co -founded with University of Massachusetts in Amherst Graduated Krish Malhotra, the system helps engine protection engineers and inspectors seek the necessary codes in a system, eliminating the need to search for manually via code books.

This year's competition has focused on a student track and a veteran of 2024-25 Florida Atlantic Veterans Florida Entrepreneurship Program / BMC Cohort.
In the hope of winning seed funds for their emerging companies, the participants presented their venture capital ideas and their startups to the judges.
Veteran track category
Zera Techbridge, a market and service platform connecting veterans, students and establishments with various AI certifications and labor courses, gained $ 1,500 in seed financing on the veterans track.
The veteran track finalist was awarded to Wall-R, a 3D printing company creating ecological walls on construction sites. The veteran track was sponsored by the late Eric Shaw, Ph.D. and Office Depot.

With money prices, the teams have contributed to have the possibility of landing favorite access to the venture capital program of Florida Atlantic University (formerly Tech Runway), a public-private partnership that mentors and presents capital, grants start-up funding, to incubate startups.
The program offers invaluable skills and experiences to launch startups as the next step in their businesses. Some former Runway participants also recently launched in front of Shark Tank's “Sharks” in Fau's Croctank.
The Business Pitch competition started with an introduction by Andria Beal, founder of Epipaws and Laureate of Croctank and culminated with innovation prizes, a ceremony to honor the winners with thousands of dollars in awards awarded for the Business Pitch competition, the Florida Atlantic and Florida Atlantic Wave track.
The president of FAU, Adam Hasner and Daniel Gropper, Ph.D., dean of the college of business, also attended the ceremony.
