Students presented “life opportunities” during the Center for Sports Media event

On April 28, the Seton Hall Center for Sports Media presented “Opportunities of A Lifetime”, organized by the executive director of CSM, BJ Schecter and the executive founder Bob Ley. The event was a celebration of work students produced by the Center and an overview of many internships and partnerships with some of the best media companies in the country which will offer unrivaled experiential learning opportunities.

During the 90 -minute event, Schecter and Ley underlined the first successful year of the Pirates in the field, which brought students to the Super Bowl and the Final Four. They also presented partnerships with ESPN and NBC Sports.

Seniors Belle Wiseman and Jackson Shank were honored as students of the Center for Sports Media of the year.

Ley '76, who spent 40 years as a award -winning broadcaster at the Emmy Award in ESPN, has transmitted the importance of digital consumption and how sports media use the young generation. In a constantly evolving sports landscape, Ley urged budding budding students to use digital tools to their advantage.

Schecter has implored students to take advantage of everything the center had to offer. “We are here to cultivate opportunities and to help you all sail in this crazy media world,” he said.

With many ways to get involved, the Center offers its students several experimental learning experiences throughout the graceful year of the Pirates in the Field program. This fantastic initiative enabled students to attend some of the most anticipated sporting events of the year, such as the Super Bowl and the NCAA Final Four as accredited media.

Producing content while promoting their communication skills, students have acquired invaluable experience by participating in these events. The center is proud of the contributions and the growth of students.

Showing the video of Fox Sports University produced by students on new male basketball and summarizing the creation of content of various pirates in field events, it is obvious to what extent the student body of Seton Hall is talented.

Schecter detailed the new partnership of the center with NBC Sports, which will extend from a South Orange classroom at the 2026 winter Olympic Games in Milan. Schecter joins the senior vice-president of the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games of NBC Sports, Amy Rosenfield, to teach a live production course in a credit in the fall. The course will be concentrated around the 2026 games and will go deep in all aspects of production. In addition, four class students will have the opportunity to win internships to work for NBC during the Olympic Games. These will be based at the company's headquarters in Stamford, CT.

The event ended with Wiseman and Shank receiving their student prices of the year for their exceptional achievements in the sports media. Wiseman, a leader with Pirates Sports Network On the campus, obtained a plethora of internships throughout his stay in Seton Hall, especially with the Big East. Shank, a pillar of PSN and WSOU, perfected his job with positions in the MLB network and with the Devils of New Jersey.

“It is up to students to control their own destiny,” said Schecter.

With many “life opportunities” available for students across the center, there is no better time to study sports media in Seton Hall.
