Roku examines complaints regarding washed HDR flows

Roku investigates the reports of washed colors during the streaming of Disney Plus HDR content, according to a Subject on the Roku number monitoring card. However, the problem seems to go beyond that, affecting almost all applications for Roku TVS, suggest comments from users on the wire during last week. The problem seems to be linked to a recent update of Roku software.

A community moderator called Rokuemmanuel-D writing in an update on Thursday than the company “Survey on Disney Plus HDR content which was washed after the recent update” and asks the members of the community to share examples and details on the affected content, what a television model he has and the software version they arise.

The first comments report only the problem in Disney Plus, and only on TCL TVS, users saying that the application menus and that the colors are correct in the non -HDR content. But as A User Watch In the above images of Disney Plus Show Andor Taken on two different televisions, normally vibrant colors rather took a gray-ish.

Subsequent comments report the same problems with YouTube TV, Netflix, Apple TV Plus, Amazon Prime Video and others. One said they had seen the problem with their Hisense brand Roku TVrather than a TCL model. The same person pointed out that HDR worked on HDMI of course of their PS5While another said the signal of their 4K Blu-ray player looked good, which implies that the problem is limited to Roku streaming, rather than any deeper television firmware problem. The people of the thread said that their televisions – Hisense and TCL – were on Roku 14.5 software version.

Washed or flat colors can already be a problem when you watch HDR content on a TV that is not shiny enough to produce a good HDR image – that was the reason why I put out the functionality of the old TCL TV TCL TCL that I used to have. But these reports describe something beyond that, with Roku producing detailed images, almost in black and white when HDR is on. We do not know how common the problem is, but there are recent reddit wires that seem to adapt to the invoice, mentioning greyish Or Black and white image This does not affect streaming application menus.

Roku did not immediately respond to The penisComment request.
