Ripley – The members of the municipal council of their regular meeting voted last month to donate $ 300 to the Westfield Little League to help compensate for the expenses for this organization.
The decision was made in response to a letter from the Westfield Little League, asking for help to pay the uniforms, equipment and maintenance on the field for the coming season. “Your support will not only guarantee that our players have the resources necessary to succeed in the field, but this would also give Westfield Little League the possibility of restoring the community through sports for young people,” said the letter.
“We have a lot of children from Ripley who participate in the Westfield Little League,” said the city supervisor Laura K. Pless. “We have estimated that it is fair to donate to the organization.”
In other activities, the chairman of the council development board, Raymond Dyer, submitted a report indicating that the Council tried to decide what to do with the city's field by the cabin.
“The idea we proposed was to have one or more food truck festivals and bring groups to perform during these events,” said the report. “There has also been a discussion on the creation of a local church, the fire service or another organization for a possible opportunity to collect funds at the moment.”
Dyer also pointed out that plans for the beautification of the city are evolving. “Several members of the board of directors are impatient to volunteer their time to help plant flowers in the region, especially in pots or other planters, around the sidewalks of the city,” he said.
During the period of land privilege, the members of the council heard Andrew Dickson of Jamestown, who noted that it was Hawk's migration season. He encouraged people to get out of beautiful days and observe birds around Route 5, Forsythe Road or Parker Road. “It's spectacular,” he said. “You might see hundreds of hawks and hawks pass.”
In another case, the members of the board of directors approved the summer leisure program, which will take place from July 7 to August 15. Trent Johnson was approved as director of the summer leisure program and Emma Lindsey and Anyah Carlson were approved to be assistants of the summer leisure program.
The city's assessor, Jason Jones, reported that the deputy clerk of the city Nicole Gollhardt is doing very well in his training to be assessor. Her physical training will start in July and she continues to work in the assessor's office twice a week, he said.
