Miami Hurricanes player Adarius Hayes injured in a Florida accident who killed 3, including 2 children

Miami Hurricanes Hurricanes, Adarius Hayes was one of the people injured in an accident that killed three, including two, said the police.

The accident involving two vehicles occurred around 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Orangeview Drive and Ridge Road in the hometown of Hayes, near Tampa. A Dodge Durango traveling south collided with a Kia soul which was a left turn, according to the Largo police service.

Police identified Hayes, 20, as the Durango driver, saying that he was hospitalized for injuries that do not put their life in danger. Police said there was no sign of disability in one or the other driver, and alcohol would not have been a factor in the collision.

Three confirmed deaths, including the elderly driver and two children

The accident killed three of the four occupants of the KIA, according to the authorities. Two children – Jabari Elijah Salomon, 10, and Charlie Herbert Solomon Rivera, 4 years old – have already been identified as passengers who died on the scene.

Police confirmed on Sunday that the driver of the Kia Soul, Gail Price, 78, also died of his injuries. His closest parent was informed. The KIA's adult passenger, Herbert Rivera, 58, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.

The homicide unit of the Largo police department continues to investigate what led to the accident, especially if the speed has played a role. No criminal accusation was filed at the time, pending the outcome of the investigation.

Hayes in recovery, UM did not comment

The University of Miami did not comment on the state of Hayes or its involvement in the accident.

Hayes played 12 games last season as a real recruit, mainly in special teams. It was a very popular four -star recruit from Largo high school and had aroused the interest of the best university programs, especially in Florida, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

Largo is located about 20 miles east of Tampa and about 15 miles north of Saint Petersburg on the Côte du Gulf in Florida.
