Kangana Ranaut takes a Hollywood leap with a horror drama

The awarded star of Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut (“Emergency”, “Queen”) crosses Hollywood, winning his first role in the horror drama “Brussed Be the Evil”.
The project, Lions films, will see Ranaut Star alongside Tyler Posey (“Teen Wolf”) and Scarlet Rose Stallone (“Tulsa King”).
Production is expected to start this summer in New York, producers specifically noting that they have chosen American locations to “avoid meeting uncertainties arising from Trump industry prices recently announced”.
Director Anurag Rudra (“New Me”, “Tailing Pond”) will direct from a scenario that he co-written with Gatha Tiwary, president and founder of Lions Movies. The two will serve as producers, with Wade Muller (“Elephant White”, “Occupation: Rouvals”) confirmed as director of photography.
According to the synopsis, the film follows a Christian couple who, after having experienced a devastating miscarriage, buys an abandoned farm with a dark past. Their love and faith are soon tested by a malicious presence.
“Being born and passing my childhood in rural India, I was told stories that were anchored in my mind and my heart,” said Rudra. “This folklore was so special that I really believed in all stories and that I wanted to present them international through the art of cinema – the strongest and the most beautiful way to connect to dreams and reality.”
Tiwary added: “A story like” Blesed Be the Evil “is very rare. Lions Films has developed a scary story of the spine with an unprecedented suspense and drama. It also has great potential for international markets, both streaming and selling. ”
Ranaut brings considerable star power to the project. Multi-hyphenate is not only a famous actor with four national film prizes and four filmfare prizes, but also a filmmaker and politician who is currently a member of the Parliament in India Lok Sabha. Her effort as director “Emergency”, in which she represented Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, received a global theatrical release earlier this year.
Posey, who broke out like the head of the “Teen Wolf” series by MTV and the subsequent renewal film (which he also produced), has already ventured into horror with “Truth Or Dare”. Stallone, daughter of Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin, appeared in the criminal comedy “Reach Me” and more recently in “The Gunslingers” alongside Nicolas Cage.
The project will be presented to international buyers of the next Cannes market. The casting of London / Stroud manages the additional cast.
Lions Films is also currently developing “American imports”, described as a criminal drama exploring family obligations, the rivalry of the brothers and sisters, success, corruption and greed.
