Jets “Garrett Wilson” Hope “for the extension of the contract

Last December, Plane wide receiver Garrett Wilson was not committed to staying with the long -term jets.

What a difference five months.

On Wednesday, after training in the OTA, Wilson looked different from wanting to stay with the jets.

“I hope that I am a jet for life and that we ride this thing and that all our best days are in front of us,” said Wilson. “I don't know what it looks like, but I'm going to go to make my part to make sure it's undeniable.”

The Wilson agency (CAA football) and the jets had some discussions, but nothing is yet official. The jets have exercised its fifth year option before the deadline of May 1, it will therefore be under contract for at least the next two seasons.

Wilson was a budding star during his first three seasons of the League. He captured 279 passes for 3,249 yards and 14 affected during this period. This includes last year when Wilson finished with 101 receptions for 1,104 yards and seven affected in 17 games.

However, despite its individual success last season, Wilson was not always happy on the field. During the training camp, Wilson and the former quarter of the jets Aaron Rodgers were not on the same wavelength. The two had an animated exchange during the training camp last summer, but both minimized the incident.

Wilson's misfortune continued in the regular season, while it was obviously frustrated that Rodgers missed throws or did not notice it several times. The relationship seemed to be derived even more after Davante Adams was acquired in a business with the raiders last October, which led Wilson to receive fewer objectives.

After an explosion expressing his frustrations in a victory against the Jaguars last December, Wilson said: “I don't know, guy”, when he was asked to stay with the long -term jets. Jets players had to compete for a Super Bowl last season, but finished with a disappointing file of 5-12.

Wilson did not mention Rodgers by name when he was asked for his frustrations from last year, but he said that his misfortune came from the loss.

“When you put what we do every week, you want him to look like a certain way,” said Wilson. “You have this idea of his appearance and should look like and we just don't hit that.

“So all of a sudden, it's aggravating and that's it.

Wilson's new perspective on the desire to be with the long-term jets could be linked to his new quarter.

After the jets officially published Rodgers in March, they signed the former teammate of the Ohio de Wilson Justin Fields to a $ 40 million contract over two years. The mention of the name of Fields put a massive smile on Wilson's face as he mentioned the first quarter-back game as a Buckeye when he marked on a 51 yardstroke against Florida Atlantic in 2019.

Although OTA training is without pads, Wilson and Fields demonstrated the same chemistry they showed during their two seasons at Ohio State together when they recorded a 20-2 file from 2019 to 20 and won two Big Ten championships.

“He is someone I know and that I have an excellent relationship,” said Wilson. “Someone I just like to watch play since I met Justin, it was a pleasure to line up by his side.

“I did not think that we would have this opportunity at this level, so it's exciting. I always take it, but it's cool and we have certainly resumed where we stopped.”

During his first season, the jet coach Aaron Glenn tries to change the lost culture of a team that has not been for the playoffs since 2010, and Wilson is one of them. He trained daily in jets facilities, hoping to improve his game and the team's performance.

Some players eligible for contract extensions do not arise for the OTAs. But Wilson says he wants to be part of something special to help jets reach the playoffs and beyond.

“As a group aspect, I wanted to enter and know my teammates, I want to enter and know my coaches,” said Wilson. “Learn the material they turn off and not be the guy who is late. There is a way to do your business when you like what you do and things like it is not really an option.

“I have the opportunity to come here and work and make myself better in the game I love and take advantage of it.” I really don't feel good when I'm not at work here. “”
