Lakewood-Dunkirk has thwarted a compression attempt from the Southwest for the second in the seventh round and retained a 4-3 victory in Chaattaqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 Thursday at Packard Field.

“We have had crazy ball games with Southwestern over the years,” said Dunkirk head coach Frank Jagoda. “Jared (Brown) is doing an exceptional job with his players. They never left. “

The marauders (11-1, 7-1) led 4-1 entering the bottom of the seventh before the Trojan horses (3-5, 3-4) begin to rally.

Alex Watkins distinguished the third base line to open the frame and two strikers later, Judd Harris reached a simple in the inner field. Wilson Genareo followed with a simple right field to load the bases.

George Marshall then struck a deep fly ball on the central field which took place behind the external field of Dunkirk to score two points and chase the marauders leaving the launcher Josh Lemanski from the match.

“He passed,” said Southwest head coach Jared Brown about Marshall. “I hope that we could have run the compression stroke.”

Greg Orcutt took over on the mound and walked Oscar Harris to load the bases. On the first launch of Cooper Charles, Wilson Genareo broke out for the house and almost slipped safely before Charles hides an attempt.

“I think Wilson would have been safe to fly at home,” said Brown.

“Greg went from the liquidation of the first. He did not realize it,” said Jagoda. “Fortunately for us, the child deceived the ball.”

The teams recharged for the second throw, but this time the orcutt offer was too far outside for Bunt and Genareo was thrown into an overview between the third and the house.

“The outdoor terrain was certainly expressly. I was surprised to have done it twice in a row,” said Jagoda about the greenhouse game. “I know he tightened yesterday, so we were a little ready for this.”

Charles then reached a simple in the inner field to load the bases, but Orcutt induced a ball on the ground at the second base which ended the game.

“These are the little things we need to move. Having a young team and not playing games without league, being able to perform these things in the game scenarios is difficult,” said Brown. “We are going to have to grow from this.”

Lemanski won the victory in 6 1/3 rounds on the mound. He granted 10 strokes and three points while removing nine. Orcutt won the backup by securing the last two withdrawals.

“We plan to throw Greg today, but we didn't want to start it today,” said Jagoda. “It was their fourth time and it's a good strike team. They don't stop.”

Southwestern took an advance of 1-0 at the bottom of the first round. Wilson Genareo doubled with a withdrawal and went to third place on land before Oscar Harris hit a simple RBI. Charles followed with a single on the ground, but Lemanski came out of the round on a return to the mound.

The Trojan horses failed two other runners in the second round and finished the match with nine on the left on the base.

“It was a thorn next to us in the last two games, leaving the guys on the basis,” said Brown. “Looking at the third strikes was also a big thorn next to us.”

The marauders took an advance of 2-1 at the top of the fourth round with a pair of not won points. Henry Leone reached second place on an outing error and an error of two strokes allowed him to mark the liaison race. Alex Biscaro then chose to put the runners in the first and third. With Gabe Valentine with marble, Biscaro took off second and when a throw from the Southwestern receiver was abandoned, the twinge runner Jayden Neallard ran home with the second round of Dunkirk.

“These are the little things and the mistakes … We cannot continue to give the right teams four or five withdrawals in a sleeve when our launcher launches balls on the ground,” said Brown. “We should play games for them.”

The marauders added another unheeded race in the fifth round. Lemanski walked to open the frame and went to second row on wild land. After a Flyball at Right Field moved him to third place, he marked on another Trojan error.

Unpaid races marked the southwest recruit Lucas Genareo with the loss, but the right-handed launched deserved a better result. He launched a full match of four strokes with seven stick withdrawals and four walks. Just one of the four races he authorized was won.

“I am extremely proud of the way he launched. He never dropped guard and he continued to go there and fight,” said Brown. “For the most part, he did not work too many guys and he launched a fairly good game.”

The Trojan horses welcome Fredonia this afternoon while Dunkirk will go to Alney-Limetone with a chance to win at least a part of the title of the League.

“We're in a good place right now,” said Jagoda.
