Circus Vargas brings Hollywood Magic in town | Eye on sc

FOr the first time, the emblematic large summit of Circus Vargas rolled up in San Clemente, bringing with him a new wave of wonder, high -flying waterfalls and Old -School staging – with a Hollywood touch – on the points of sale in San Clemente.

“This year's show is called Circus Vargas presents Hollywood Dreams,” said Ring Master Johnathan Lee Iverson. “It is a point of the upper hat, if you want, at the age of Hollywood and narration. We take the public of the 1920s in the 2020s. ”

Iverson, whose booming voice and the presence of a dominant scene anchor performance, carries two hats – Ringmaster and director of performance.

“I consider the largest storyteller ringmaster in the world,” he said. “We present these incredible acts from around the world, and my work is to guide the public through this story.”

Behind the scenes, it is also the one that ensures that rehearsals are going well, the performance remains on time, and each act is synchronized. “I am the communication basis for the whole business,” said Iverson.

The 2024 production presents around 10 acts, including artists from Romania, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and the Czech Republic – many of which are winners at prestigious international festivals. A favorite fans of fans this year: the steel globe defying death, which includes four high -performance motorcyclists in the synchronized darkness.

This kind of variety, said co -owner Katya Arata Quiroga, is what maintains Circus Vargas that is both classic and current.

“We will balance tradition by performing under a real circus tent, as circuses have done for generations,” she said. “And many of our artists are parents themselves. We have a school on the road for their children. So it is a circus made by families, for families. ”

Quiroga said the decision to make its debut in San Clemente was deliberate.

“We have never been here before, and we really wanted to bring the circus to new audiences,” she said. “Even if we played nearby at Laguna Hills, we estimated that it was important to meet families where they are – in their own districts.”

The accessibility of the show is at the heart of its mission. From toddlers to adolescents to 99 year old children, everyone is welcome.

“It's a place where people can feel free, where children don't even want to be on their phone,” said Quiroga. “There is no barrier – no rule on religion, sex, bottom. The circus is universal. “

It has also evolved over time. “We have been an animal-free circus for over 20 years,” she said. “We were ahead of the curve, especially here in California. People come for artistic talent, production, narration. No one is moving away from the way something is missing. “

For Iverson, the heart of the show remains in the people.

“My favorite part is always the reaction of the public,” he said. “We are at the service of their imagination. This is what great entertainment is. You come here, and you do not feel violated, or as if you were to cover your children's ears. It's just joy. It's clean. It's extraordinary. You can see humanity at best. “

With its short term in town, Iverson and Quiroga encourage residents not to wait.

“We are here for a while,” said Quiroga. “Don't miss him. Bring your friends, your family – you get out and experience magic. ”

Circus Vargas will be in San Clemente for a limited race until Monday, May 12, with performances organized under the great blue and classic blue top at the points of sale of San Clemente. With several hours every week, family production offers many chances of grasping magic – do not wait too long.
