The French Minister invokes crypto bosses after a sudden abduction attempt

The French Interior Minister invited cryptographic leaders to discuss their security after several attempts and made kidnapping of industry this year.

The meeting follows the last incident of this type on Tuesday when armed attackers tried to remove the daughter and the grandson of a cryptographic entrepreneur in the French capital.

The Minister calls an emergency meeting on abduction attacks against crypto

The French Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, will meet cryptocurrency professionals later this week to speak of how to prevent future abductions after a series of attacks against parents of people dealing with cryptographic assets in France.

Retailleau announced his decision to meet the chiefs of the industry one day after a brutal attempt to seize a woman and her son from a street in Paris. The success of the 11th district of the capital, produced by four masked men in broad daylight, was photographed.

The victims, the daughter and the grandson of a cryptographic businessman, narrowly escaped the kidnapping after the woman and her partner resisted before passers-by intervened to prevent them from being pushed into a van. All three were then hospitalized with minor injuries.

“I will bring together businessmen working in cryptocurrencies, and we have a few in France, at the Ministry of the Interior to work with them on their security and so that they become aware of the risks,” Retailleau said The French broadcaster Europe 1-CNEWS, and was also cited by France 24 and AFP.

France faces a series of abductions linked to the crypto

The couple and the child targeted by the kidnappers this week are parents of the co-founder and CEO of the French Paymium cryptocuruse exchange platform, media reports revealed. The attempt to remove the woman with her child and her spouse is not the first of this kind since the beginning of the year.

The French crypto entrepreneur David Balland, co-founder of the Crypto Ledger portfolio company, was kidnapped from his home in the center of France in January, with his partner. Balland had a finger cut by his attackers, who demanded a “big ransom in cryptocurrency”, according to a press release published by the prosecutor's office in Paris.

Both were released with the help of FiddleFrance's elite police unit. The authorities responsible for the application of laws have since held at least nine suspects in this case, including the alleged chief of the kidnapping group.

Earlier this month, criminals kidnapped the father of another cryptographic entrepreneur, demanding up to 7 million euros in ransom. Police released the man during a raid that led to the arrest of seven people. The victim's son was described by prosecutors as a cryptographic millionaire.

Bruno Retailleau congratulated the work of French investigators who, in his words, “did exceptional work to release this man and stop his captors”.

Speaking on Wednesday on the safety of the crypto patterns and their families, the Minister of the Interior underlined the need for joint measures to protect them.

“We will also find the authors wherever they are, perhaps even abroad,” he added after planning the meeting with cryptographic businessmen for Friday.

The current series of crypto kidnappings intervenes in an increase in the crime organized in France that the Government of Paris has difficulty controlling, note the French media, providing examples of other cheeky attacks unrelated to cryptocurrencies.
