Authorities warn against phlinging text messages for sensitive information, telling the victims that their bank account is at risk

The authorities of a city in Tennessee warn residents of a new SMS scam which has usurped the identity of local banks.
The Shelbyville police service said The scam texts circulated through the local community.
“Several citizens have said they had received messages claiming to be local banks, urging them to click on a suspicious link. Do not click on any link or do not provide personal information.
These texts are not legitimate and are designed to steal your sensitive information. You will find below an example of the text. If you receive one of these messages, delete it immediately and contact your bank directly if you have concerns. »»
In the same vein, the director of the county of Suffolk, Ed Romaine, warned last month that a crew of scammer artists had called elderly people at Long Island and pretending to be their banks.
Frauders tell the elderly that their bank accounts are attacked and that their credit and debit cards have misunderstood. The crooks then propose to collect the cards of the victims and try to attract them to reveal their pins, explained Roman.
“And guess what? Then they go on the ATM machine and fly their money. And that happened to a certain number of seniors.”
