Certain software updates pack in a number of features and modifications, while others fundamentally revised the experience of using the device in question. iOS 18.5 is neither: it is a minor Update, but it is to be expected. The WWDC is next month, where Apple will almost certainly announce iOS 19.

But iOS 18.5 is not an empty update. Once you install it on your iPhone, you will notice some modifications – and some of the changes you do not notice are the most important of all. Here is all that is new in the last iOS update:

With iOS 18.2, Apple upgraded the messaging application. For some, the modifications made the messaging application more organized and effective to use. For others, it was inflated and confusing. Contact photos did not help.

The idea is that if you have a contact photo for a sender, it will appear in the left side of the message in your reception box. However, if you do not have such a photo, the mail will use an image of the Apple Stock Library. The taste is subjective, but, frankly, these stock icons simply do not seem good.

Fortunately, you can deactivate them, but you will never know it unless you are someone who likes to dive via your settings. iOS 18.5 corrects this with an easy option in the messaging application itself. Khamosh Pathak of Lifehacker explained the change deeper here.

It has become more difficult to get around screen time settings

Apple's screen time is an excellent tool for parents – and I can only imagine, pain for children. Parents can define a password to lock the screen time settings and make sure that children cannot access the aspects of their iPhone, their parents do not want them to do it. Of course, passenger codes are a sadly futile restriction, because wise children will always find how to enter.

Although Apple does not reinvent the pass code wheel with iOS 18.5, it makes screen time a little more secure. Once you have updated, you will receive a notification whenever the screen password is used on a child's device. This will not prevent your children from discovering the password of your screen time, but it will obstruct their pleasure in the bud quite quickly.

I imagine that children will find a solution to bypass this functionality in the future. But, for the moment, you have an additional tool to make sure that the restrictions remain in place.

A new “Pride Harmony” wallpaper

In anticipation of the month of pride, Apple deploys a new “Pride Harmony” wallpaper for its various devices. The wallpaper has colors of the rainbow that adjust their positions when moving, lock or unlock your iPhone or iPad. Apple also has a new sports group Pride Edition, which has a similar set of colors. Apple says that its objective with the conception of the harmony of pride is to “celebrate the strength and beauty of LGBTQ + communities from around the world”.

It is easy to be cynical about the pride of the company, but taking into account the moments when we live, it is cool to see that Apple continues to openly support the LGBTQ + years that in recent years. (Tim cook donations apart.)

“Buy with iPhone” now available on third -party devices

When you buy something on the Apple TV TV application (say that three times faster), you can approve this purchase with your iPhone. With iOS 18.5, this feature arrives on the TV application on non -layer devices. In this way, you don't need to buy on the TV application from another Apple device before you can look on your third -party device.

What do you think so far?

Satellite features provided by operators are now available on the iPhone 13 series

Since 2023, Apple has officially supported satellite communications for all iphones from series 14. If you are without cellular services, you can connect to a satellite to reach out to the authorities to get help – or even simply send an SMS to a friend.

After this last update, however, users of the iPhone 13 will also be able to take advantage of satellite features.

The Apple Vision Pro application obtains a buckt correction

The update also solves a problem with the Apple Vision Pro application, where the application can sometimes display a black screen.

Security updates

The iOS 18.5 sleeper function is the safety boost it provides to your iPhone. In all, the homeland update on 30 bugs. Fortunately, Apple is not aware of any feat for these vulnerabilities, which means that hackers probably did not use these faults to target iPhone users. That said, the safest line of driving is to update your iPhone as soon as possible, in case someone determines how to use these faults against you.

In addition, there are non -hacking vulnerabilities here that you need to correct. The silent button from FaceTime, for example, may not work, which should be more than enough to update to iOS 18.5. (Be careful when you talk about Smack during a facetime call.)
