A letter from WSN sports editor

Serving as a WSN sports editor in the past academic year, I had the opportunity to watch and report on the Nyu sports scene – whether from a headquarters at the front row or on a live flow in the editorial room. Believe it or not, Nyu is a sports school, N ° 2 of 278 schools In the classification of Division III of the Learfield Directors Cup, and I am very grateful to give the sports community here. Help with the magazine's spearhead under the magazine Sports problem at accommodation In the group Podcasts and news from the championship title, I had the honor of knowing our incredibly talented and multifaceted students and the staff who advance the university's athletics department. These are my five best moments of Nyu Athletics during the 2024-25 season.

5. Cooper Pontelandolfo named US wrestler for the fourth consecutive year

WSN had the chance to cover the ups and downs of the wrestling team this year, and to have the opportunity to write on the Nyu successful wrestling program was special. One of my favorite tops was the senior Cooper Pontelandolfo finalist in the season, earning him honors in America for the Fourth consecutive year. He is the only Nyu wrestler to achieve it in the history of the program, and it was an incredible moment at the NCAA tournament.

4. Women's night match for Uchicago

In a school of division III, the community created within a team may be the point to remember the most important. Nyu Athletics holds Six groups of student-athlete affinityAnd two of the captains of the women's football team led the LGBTQ + Affinity Group last season. They gathered a Pride evening Match for the football team – in which Nyu defeated the University of Chicago 2-0 – and the co -captain and the president of the Affinity and Senior Group Bryce Chan She scored First college objective. It was so special for Chan, the team and all those who look in the stands and at home, and it's a moment that will stay with me forever.

3. Second consecutive victory for the consecutive UVC volleyball championship

One of First articles I wrote for WSN was the victory of the 2024 male UVC championship, and Write on the second consecutive victory This year was so special. This season has been memorable, with milestones including the 445th victory of head coach Jose Pina with the Violets, the UVC LIBERO OF THE YEAR And the co-player of the year coming from Nyu and the team going to the Elite Eight for the second consecutive season. The victory of the conference was indicative of the team's efforts and was a great moment to cover.

2.

With the male basketball team tied with Uchicago and only 0.5 seconds to play, the second student Hampton Sanders made the ball for graduate of student Brock Susko, who has marked a career defining the career buzzingsecuring victory. I have never heard the center of Paulson roar as hard as this moment, and the excitement of the team and the fans was palpable.

The male and female basketball teams have experienced record and incredibly special seasons, crowned at home by each team that can accommodate a round of the NCAA tournament – something said about very few NCAA schools. Watching the basketball culture in Nyu Grow has been rewarding, and I am delighted to see the direction he continues to follow.

1. Record seasons for swimming and diving for men and women

The male and female swimming and diving teams placed at the top of the NCAA championship. The women's team broke the program records and ranked second, twice a swimmer of the junior year Kaley McIntyre. The men's team followed in a fourth place in record, and a graduate of swimmers as senior Connor Vincent has expressed immense pride in the growth of the program in recent years. Following the swimming and diving teams was super exciting this season, and I am delighted to see how the programs continue to grow.

WSN gave me so much: a platform to share My opinionsa path to meet incredible people and Share their stories And some of my best friends and the greatest inspirations. I am so excited to go back to the editorial room in a different role and continue to watch everyone prosper.

Journalists never reveal their prejudices, but I am delighted to encourage violets.
